Every summer kids look forward to summer Bible camps and Vacation Bible schools. Church ladies  plan Bible Lessons, design crafts, write funny skits, dress up like characters, they have as much fun as the kids! The kids love the prizes for bringing guests or memorizing verses! They especially love the boy-girl competitions like racing to raise the most money for the missionaries!

But this year a lot of that has been cancelled. No snow cones, no art projects, no funny songs, no seeing friends, no opportunity to tell kids about the Savior who loves them!

I’ve had friends who’ve had great turnouts at their outdoor ‘Backyard Bible Club’. Theater is also a big draw and one that can be modified to CDC regulations. For two summers I was involved in a theater club that traveled from church to church presenting a Biblical play. That could easily be held outdoors.

We’ve all found creative work arounds to COVID-19 restrictions. There has to be some for these summer activities! Children are the police, preachers, and politicians of tomorrow. Today’s children are the nation of tomorrow. Jesus said to the disciples in Matthew 19:14, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.” I know the Holy Spirit will guide you to the perfect out of the box method to share the gospel and bring fun to kids’ summer.
